Blizzard who?

I feel like I should stop playing the Torchlight 2 beta, it feels so complete. Sure, there are some top tier skills missing from each classes skill trees but it otherwise feels like an actual game that I would pay good money for.

I guess the big sticking point for some people is that it feels exactly like the original Torchlight, so depending on which camp you reside, you will either love it or hate it. There doesn’t seem to be any major differences, new story and a few quality of life tweaks that had previously been addressed by mods for the original but otherwise, it’s more of the same but with co-op multiplayer bolted on for giggles and a few new pet models.
I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, far from it. I dare not open steam to check my tracked hours for Torchlight but I wouldn’t be surprised to see three figures.

After trying the Outlander (ranged weapon class), Engineer (melee two hander or sword/board) and the Berserker (melee dual wield feral powerhouse) I jumped into the Embermage. Previously I found the caster to be tiresome but I’m glad I gave it a shot in this beta as it’s a lot of fun. Easy mode for sure and with a couple of skills built up you can take down everything in half the time of the other classes. As always that’s a double edged sword, you blast through the game very quickly and soon tire of using the same two skills (or one if you are really lazy) to burn through packs of mobs. People are raising the same complaints against D3 and I guess it’s just to be expected for this type of game. I do remember forcing myself to use more than one skill in the original, just to stop myself from getting bored.

Still, very fun game, very polished beta and if you are a fan of the original you will no doubt have already secured your purchase. Happy clicking.
